जाने वाले क्या कभी लौट कर भी आते हैं

छोड़ गए थे जिसे क्या उसे वापस अपना बनाते हैं 

जाने का मन तो वो बहुत पहले बनाते हैं

फिर क्यों किसी को बताकर नहीं जाते हैं 

अपने ही घर से ये चोरों जैसा निकलना

भला उन्हें क्यों मुनासिब लगता है,

समझते क्यों नहीं यूं घर की लानतें भी साथ ले जाते हैं…

जाने से पहले वे मोहब्बत की जंजीर तोड़ क्यों नहीं देते हैं 

नहीं दे सकते जो मोहब्बत का दाना पानी

तो प्रेम के पिंजड़े खोल क्यों नहीं देते हैं 

अपनी शोहबत में जिसे करते थे रोशन

उसे जंगल के अंधेरे में अकेला छोड़ क्यों देते हैं… 

क्यों अपना इंतजार मुल्तवी करके जाते हैं

लौट कर नहीं आना है ये सीधे क्यों नहीं बतलाते हैं 

जब कर ही चुके होते हैं किसी और से दिलदारी गुफ्तगू

तब भी क्यों रखते हैं पहले सी जारी…

जो साथ निभाना नहीं आता तो क्यों झूठे कसमें वादे खाते हैं 

अपनी आंखों से मासूम दिल पर खंजर क्योंकर चलाते हैं…

जाने से पहले वे अपने हुस्न को जो इतना सजाते हैं

अपने दिल का आईना क्यों नहीं चमकाते हैं… 

घर के सारे साजो सामान जब अपने साथ ले जाते हैं

ले जाते हैं घर की रोशनी, हवा, खुशियां सारी

तो अपनी यादों को क्यों छोड़ जाते हैं 

अपनी खुशबू को कोनों में बिखराकर उसे क्यों नहीं समेट जाते हैं…

अपनी जुदाई पर जो जीते जी मौत से अजीज कर देते हैं

पेट में छुरा भोंककर क्यों नहीं जाते हैं…. 

ये जाने वाले भी भला कहाँ लौटकर आते हैं

अपने तबस्सुम से महकाया था जिसे कभी

उसे लौटकर फिर गले लगाना तो दूर की बात

उसकी मौत पर दुआ करने भी वापस नहीं आते हैं 

जाने वाले क्या कभी लौट कर भी आते हैं

छोड़ गए थे जिसे क्या उसे वापस अपना बनाते हैं
